Peter N Keiyoro

 Peter N Keiyoro is a lecturer at the University of Nairobi where he has been co-ordinating science teacher training programmes using open and distance learning technologies since 1986.He has also served as Biolgical sciences examiner with Kenya national Examinations Council for over sixteen years in addition to having been a science teacher trainer at Kagumo and Kenya science teachers Colleges.He has participated extensively in developing open and distance science study materials at local and international tersiary intitutions.He has also been intrumental in the development of Post Graduate Diploma In Sexually Transmitted Infections (HIV_AIDS)-PGSTI.This a practicing Doctors  two  year programme of the University of Nairobi.
He has partipated in the eLA conferences held at Addis Ababa(2006),Nairobi(2007) and Accra(2008).He is a consultant in the development of science pedagogical  ODel study materials.
Currently he conducting a pilot in the use of Digital science materials at the The Green Garden schools -Kenya.He is also a co-director and founder of the Green Garden schools -Kenya.
His main area of research interest is in factors that influence use of ICT in teaching science curriculum in secondary schools.

 

Dr Christopher Mwangi Gakuu

 Dr Christopher Mwangi Gakuu is currently a Senior Lecturer and Chairman, Department of Extra-Mural Studies in the School of Continuing and Distance Education at the University of Nairobi. He is involved in the development, management and evaluation of academic and administration of distance learning programmes. He has an experience of ten years in the use of open, distance and e-learning   technologies to deliver education. This includes short courses in Free University of Belgium and Open University of Netherlands. He  also Participated in and eight months intensive e-Learning in Practice Blended Learning Course from October 2007 – May 2008 by organized by InWent ( Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung gGmbH  of Germany.

 Over the years he has participated in the training of writers in the development of distance learning materials for both print and electronic media for Bachelor of Education Science and Arts, Diploma in Business management, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts. He has also inducted and trained new staff in the writing, production and management of distance learning programmes in the University of Nairobi, Maseno University (March 2006), Egerton University (November 2007).

He has participated and presented papers in several professional conferences which include the Regional e-Learning Conference organized by Kenyatta University between 18th -20th November, 2008, e-Learning Africa Conference in Accra, Ghana, 28th -30th May, 2008, e-Learning Africa Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, 27th –29th May 2007, 1st International Computer Science Conference 5th – 7th February, 2007, Nairobi, Kenya. 

 

 Dr Gakuu holds a PhD in Distance Education from the University of Nairobi, an MBA. from United States International University (USIU) and a Bachelor of Education degree from Kenyatta University and several other diplomas. He has previously served as a high school where he rose to the position of Deputy Principal. Currently she is involved in the AVU Capacity Enhancement Programme on the Management and Governance of online programmes .

 Dr. Gakuu is the Principal Researcher with the Pan Africa Research Agenda in Pedagogical Integration of ICT in Education in Africa and also a committee member of … Kenya Bureau of Standards. He has special interest in e-Learning and distance education as modes of instructional delivery. He has published widely in the areas of distance education and e-learning.  

DR. HARRIET KIDOMBO

 

Dr Harriet J. Kidombo is currently a Lecturer and Associate Dean in the School of Continuing and Distance Education at the University of Nairobi where she is involved in the development, management and evaluation of academic and administration of distance learning programmes. She has an experience of sixteen years in the use of open, distance and e-learning   technologies to deliver education. This includes a short attachment at the University of South Africa (UNISA). 


Over the years she has participated in the training of writers in the development of distance learning materials for both print and electronic media for Bachelor of Education Science and Arts, Diploma in Business management, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts. She has also inducted and trained new staff in the writing, production and management of distance learning programmes. She has participated and presented papers in several professional conferences which include the Regional eLearning Conference organized by Kenyatta University between 18th -20th November, 2008, eLearning Africa Conference in Accra, Ghana, 28th -30th May, 2008 and in Daresalaam between 16th - 19th September, 2007 where she presented a paper on Quality Assurance in Open and Distance Learning. 

Dr Kidombo holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi, an MSc. in Human Resource Development from the University of Manchester, UK and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nairobi. She has previously served as a high school teacher and a training manager in the private sector. Currently she is involved in the AVU Capacity Enhancement Programme on the Technology and Delivery of programmes online and is also a researcher with the Pan Africa Research Agenda in Pedagogical Integration of ICT in Education in Africa. She has special interest in corporate e-Learning and has published widely in the areas of distance education and e-learning.
